ProCharger C6 Blower Install - Blasting Impressions
The hoses and intake tubes may need to be adjusted a few times to geteverything just right. Once all the intake hoses are installed properly, tighten all the bolts that hold the intercooler in place.
With the lower air-intake tubes secured, it's time to install the coresupport cover over the radiator. It installs just like the factory unit, and even uses the factory screws.
With some WD-40 handy for dry hoses, install the intake hose between theintercooler and the intake manifold.
Next, install the new ProCharger air-filter assembly. Don't forget tohook up the PCV hose to the 90-degree fitting.
Now you can install the air filter on the blower's intake port using thesupplied hose and clamps.
Here's how the system should look at this point. As with all ofProCharger's Corvette kits, the LS3 setup makes for a very clean, almostfactory-like installation.
The next step involves installing the upgraded fuel injectors. Removethe gas cap to bleed off some pressure, then use the Schrader valve onthe end of the fuel rail to relieve the rest. Keep plenty of rags aroundto mop up any leaking gas.
Once all the pressure's out, disconnect the main fuel line from the fuelrail using a special spring-lock-removal tool.
With the fuel line disconnected, remove the bolts that secure the fuelrail to the intake manifold and head. Once that's done, unplug eachinjector from the wiring harness.
Once the bolts are removed, pull the rail out. Swapping the injectors ispretty straightforward. Just be sure all the O-rings are in the properspots, or you'll have a geyser-like fuel leak when you hit the ignitionkey.
Before-and-after dyno testing revealed improvements in output of 153.91hp and 123.34 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. That brought totalrear-wheel output to 534.80/482.06, or around 629/567 at the flywheel.Even better, the ProCharger system operated with near transparency onthe road, only making its presence known through spine-straighteningsurges of acceleration under heavy throttle.
One final detail: The factory power-steering cooler must be moved andsecured to the electric-fan shroud using a couple of zip ties.
With everything in place, re-install the front fascia and inner-fenderpanels in the order opposite their removal.
